Epiphany
A lot of people judge their self worth on what other people think of them and expect from them. They exercise for their boyfriend, girlfriend, mother, father, whatever. They go to school for their parents, for their job. They give sex for love, and they give love for sex. They do what is expected of them because it is expected of them, but they always come up wanting. It’s never good enough, and it never will be.
Well, hear me now, and hear me well, because I have one thing to say about that.
Fuck it.
You will never be good enough for anyone else in your entire life until you’re good enough for yourself. You will never meet their standards until you meet your standards. You will never be loved until you love yourself.
Don’t do anything for anyone. Fuck ‘em. Do it for you. Do it to make yourself better. Do it so that you can love yourself. Really, truely, unconditionally love yourself.
It’s not selfish, it’s not egotistical. It’s healthy, and it’s the right thing to do. You will never live a fulfilled life if you’re living solely for someone or something else’s validation.
